SVG to DXF Converter: Free, in Your Browser

Convert SVG to DXF in seconds. Drop a file or paste SVG code, and paths, arcs, circles and the real size carry over into a clean DXF that opens in AutoCAD, LightBurn, Fusion 360 and any CAD or CAM program. All you need is a free account; everything happens on your own device, so nothing is uploaded.

  • Free, no limits
  • No upload
  • Free account, no credits
  • Keeps real size

DXF settings

Units

Millimetres. Best for laser cutters, CNC and most CAD programs.

1 keeps the size stored in the SVG; 2 makes it twice as big.

Curve precision

Curves become short straight segments that stay within 0.05 mm of the true shape. Circles and circular arcs stay true arcs.

DXF layers

One layer per stroke color, so laser software can map cut, score and engrave.

SVG counts y downward, CAD counts it upward. Leave this on so the drawing isn't upside down.

SVG pixel size

Only matters when the SVG size is in px or has no unit. Pick 72 DPI if an Illustrator file comes out 25% too small.

How it works

How to Convert SVG to DXF in Three Steps

Going from SVG to DXF takes a free account and nothing more: no upload, no watermark, no credits. Every step happens in your browser tab.

  1. Step 1

    Add your SVG

Drop an .svg or .svgz file onto the converter, choose one from your device, or paste SVG code copied from Illustrator, Figma or an icon library. Before your first SVG to DXF conversion, sign in with a free account when asked.

  2. Step 2

    Check the settings

Pick mm or inches and confirm the size in the result panel. Set the curve precision, then choose one layer, the SVG's own layers, or one layer per color.

  3. Step 3

    Download the DXF

Click Download DXF and open the file in AutoCAD, LightBurn, Fusion 360, Inkscape or your cutter's software.

Want to check it first? Open it in our free DXF viewer.

What Ends Up in the DXF — and What Doesn't

The SVG to DXF converter reads geometry: paths, shapes, lines and curves. Anything else, such as text or an embedded photo, has to become a path before it can be converted.

Converted to DXF

  • Paths with every command: lines, cubic and quadratic Béziers, and elliptical arcs
  • Rectangles (rounded corners too), circles, ellipses, lines, polylines and polygons
  • Groups, nested SVGs and reused symbols, with translate, scale, rotate, skew and matrix transforms
  • viewBox plus width and height in mm, cm, in, pt or px, so the drawing keeps its real size
  • Circles and circular arcs as true CIRCLE and ARC geometry; other curves as smooth polylines
  • Stroke and fill colors, Inkscape and Illustrator layers, and CSS classes, for layers by color

Not converted

  • Text — convert it to paths first (see below)
  • Raster images embedded in the SVG (PNG or JPG inside)
  • Clipping paths and masks — clipped shapes are exported whole
  • Stroke width, gradients, patterns and filters — DXF lines have no thickness or fill

Turn text and thick strokes into paths

Fonts don't carry over, so outline text before you export the SVG:

  • Inkscape: select the text, then Path → Object to Path.
  • Illustrator: select the text, then Type → Create Outlines.
  • Figma: keep “Outline text” ticked in the SVG export settings.

Need the outline of a thick line? Use Path → Stroke to Path (Inkscape) or Object → Path → Outline Stroke (Illustrator).

Where the file goes

SVG to DXF for Laser Cutting, Cricut, CNC and CAD

Almost every cutting machine and CAD program can import DXF, so you convert SVG to DXF once and use the same file everywhere.

Laser cutting

LightBurn, RDWorks and other laser software

Import the file at true size. With layers by color, red, blue and black lines land on separate layers, ready to set as cut, score or engrave.

Check layers and size first in our DXF viewer.

Cutting machines

Cricut and Silhouette

Silhouette Studio Basic Edition imports DXF but not SVG, so a quick SVG to DXF step lets you cut a design without paying for an upgrade. Cricut Design Space accepts the same file.

Only have a PNG logo? Try PNG to DXF.

CNC and plasma

CNC routers, plasma and waterjet

Fusion 360, VCarve, SheetCAM and most CAM programs read R12 DXF. Because this SVG to DXF converter keeps arcs as arcs, toolpaths come out smooth instead of faceted.

CAD

AutoCAD, LibreCAD, FreeCAD and SolidWorks

Bring logos, icons and vector artwork into a drawing or sketch at the right scale, on layers you can edit.

SVG to DXF Converter FAQ

Straight answers about converting SVG to DXF: cost, privacy, size, curves, text, layers and which programs open the file.

Yes. You sign in with a free account, and there is no watermark, no daily limit and no credits to spend. Each SVG to DXF conversion runs in your own browser, so it costs nothing to serve, and it stays free.

Only Have a Picture, Not an SVG?

SVG to DXF only works when your shapes are already vectors. FigCAD takes photos, scans and hand sketches, redraws them as clean CAD linework with AI, and exports DXF, DWG, SVG or PDF at real size.

DXF, SVG and PDF downloads are always free; only the AI redraw uses credits.
