Privacy Policy | FigCAD

How FigCAD collects, uses, stores and protects your account data and the images you upload for image to CAD conversion, and the choices you have about them.

Last updated: 2026-10-16

Who we are

FigCAD ("FigCAD", "we", "us") runs the website figcad.org. FigCAD turns photos, drawings and sketches into clean line drawings with the help of third-party AI models, then lets you export them as DXF, SVG or PDF files.

This policy explains what information we collect when you use FigCAD, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. If you have a question, email us at support@figcad.org.

The short version

  • You own what you upload. We use your files only to run FigCAD for you.
  • To generate a drawing, we send your image to a third-party AI provider. We do not use your uploads to train our own models.
  • Uploaded images and generated results are kept for 30 days by default and may be deleted after that. Download anything you want to keep.
  • We do not sell your personal information or your files.
  • Payments are handled by payment processors such as Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

Information we collect

Account information. Your email address, name and password (stored only as a secure hash). If you sign in with Google or GitHub, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from that provider.

Files you upload and results we create. The photos, drawings, scans and sketches you upload, any text or settings you add (such as a prompt or output options), and the line-art images the AI returns. The conversion to DXF, SVG or PDF runs in your browser, and the exported file is downloaded to your device. We don't receive a copy of an exported file unless a feature clearly says it saves it to your account.

Credits and payment information. Your plan, credit balance, credit usage and order history. When you pay, the payment processor collects your card or wallet details and tells us whether the payment succeeded, the amount, and limited details such as your country and the last four digits of the card.

Usage and device information. Pages you visit, features you use, generation history, error reports, your IP address, browser type, operating system and approximate location derived from your IP address. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs.

Messages you send us. If you email us or use a support chat, we keep the conversation and any files you attach so we can help you.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • create and secure your account and let you sign in;
  • process your uploads, run AI generations and show you your results;
  • track credits, return credits automatically when a generation fails, and process payments, subscriptions and refunds;
  • send service emails, such as email verification, password resets, receipts and important changes to the service;
  • answer support requests;
  • understand how FigCAD is used so we can fix bugs and improve features;
  • prevent fraud, abuse, spam and violations of our Terms of Service;
  • meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, we rely on these legal bases: performing our contract with you (running the service you signed up for), our legitimate interests (keeping FigCAD secure, preventing abuse and improving the product), your consent (for non-essential cookies and analytics, where the law requires consent), and legal obligations (such as keeping tax records).

How AI processing works

When you start a generation, your uploaded image and settings are sent to a third-party AI service. We call these models through API providers (for example KIE), which route the request to image models from companies such as Google and OpenAI. The provider processes the image and returns the result to us. To let the provider fetch your image, we may give it a long, hard-to-guess link to the file in our storage.

What this means for you:

  • We don't train our own models on your uploads. FigCAD does not use your images or results to train or fine-tune any AI model of our own.
  • Third-party providers follow their own policies. Each provider handles the data it receives under its own terms and privacy policy, which may allow short-term retention, for example for abuse monitoring. We pick providers that offer business API access, and we don't send your name or email address with your image.
  • Think before uploading sensitive drawings. If a drawing contains confidential details (client names, addresses, title blocks, internal part numbers), consider removing or covering them before you upload.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or rent your files. We share information only with:

  • Infrastructure providers — Cloudflare hosts the website, the database and file storage (Cloudflare R2).
  • AI providers — the API providers and model companies described above, only to run your generations.
  • File conversion providers — when you export a DWG file, the DXF drawing we generated for you is sent to CloudConvert to convert it into DWG. CloudConvert handles it under its own terms and privacy policy.
  • Payment processors — Stripe and any other payment method we offer at checkout, to take payments and handle refunds and disputes.
  • Sign-in providers — Google or GitHub, if you choose to sign in with them.
  • Email and support tools — services that deliver our emails and, if enabled, run our live support chat.
  • Analytics tools — services such as Google Analytics or Plausible, if enabled, to measure site traffic.
  • Authorities and others when required — if the law requires it, to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect the rights, property or safety of FigCAD, our users or others.
  • A future owner — if FigCAD is sold, merged or reorganized, your information may be transferred as part of that deal, and this policy will continue to apply to it.

Our providers may only use your information to provide their services to us, under their agreements with us and their own privacy terms.

How long we keep your information

These are our default retention periods:

  • Uploaded images and generated results: kept for 30 days from when they are created. After that they may be deleted at any time without further notice, so please download anything you want to keep. FigCAD is not long-term file storage.
  • Account information: kept while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account data and files from our active systems within 30 days, and from backups within a further 30 days.
  • Payment and order records: kept as long as tax and accounting laws require, even after you close your account.
  • Server logs and security records: kept for a short period, normally no longer than 90 days, unless we need them to investigate abuse.
  • Support conversations: kept as long as needed to resolve your request and for a reasonable time afterward.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Necessary cookies keep you signed in, remember your language, protect forms and remember your cookie choice. The site doesn't work properly without them.
  • Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use FigCAD (for example, which pages are visited). Where the law requires your consent, we only use them after you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice by clearing your cookies for figcad.org and choosing again. Our own statistics of pricing-page views and plan clicks are kept for 90 days.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block necessary cookies, you may not be able to sign in.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls on our systems and storage, and passwords stored only as secure hashes. No service on the internet is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as the law requires.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
  • correct information that is wrong;
  • delete your account and your information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent you gave earlier;
  • receive your information in a portable format.

You can update your profile and delete files in your account settings. For anything else, email support@figcad.org from the address linked to your account. We will reply within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for using these rights. If you are in the EEA or the UK and are not happy with our response, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

International transfers

FigCAD and its providers operate in many countries, including the United States. Your information may be processed outside your country, where data protection laws may differ. When we transfer personal information from the EEA or the UK, we rely on the safeguards our providers offer, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Children

FigCAD is not meant for children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your country if that is higher. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as FigCAD changes. We will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and if a change is significant we will also tell you by email or through the service before it takes effect.
